Since its inception in 1963 , NITIE has achieved significant milestones in the course of its progress. Sincere and dedicated pursuance of the objectives encrypted at the beginning, has led it to register itself as a pioneer educational institution and a peerless one in the field of Industry specific researches and teachings. Some of the milestones are enumerated below.

One of the finest Ergonomics and Human Factors Engineering Laboratories in addition to Physical Ergonomics, Occupation Health and Safety, Industrial Environment, Environmental Engineering, Energy Audit, Maintenance and Condition Monitoring, Audio Visual and Simulation Laboratories are at various stages of the development.

During the year 2006-07 NITIE conducted -- Management Development Programmes in which middle and senior level executives from various Private / Public Sector and Government Departments had participated. So far more than 44,158 Executives are trained by NITIE in various disciplines. These executives have participated in the short-term development Programmes conducted by the Institute.

The Unit Based Programmes conducted by the Institute represent unique Programmes designed to suit the individual organization. These programmes provide an opportunity to gain first hand knowledge of the climate and culture of the organization. During the year 2006-07, NITIE has conducted -- such programmes in various parts of the country as well as at NITIE premises.

Faculty members of the Institute have presented papers in various International / National Conferences / Workshops.

NITIE in its endeavor to be close to the Industrial service utilities and other public, private and Government Sector organizations have undertaken more than -- consultancy assignments during the year 2006-07.

NITIE's continuous contacts with industries have culminated in the establishment of an Industry-Institute Interaction Cell which undertakes various studies including Bench Marking which are of immense use to the nation.

NITIE's PostGraduate Programmes are highly rated by the Industry. Our Alumni occupy very senior positions of leadership in Industry.

 NITIE publishes a quarterly journal Udyog Pragati covering application research articles and case studies.

A large number of co-curricular programmes like Lakshya, Prerana, Concept 2000, Samiksha, etc., are conducted for continuous upgradation and development of students. Seminars, Conferences are conducted regularly addressing topics of current technological and academic relevance.

 Special programmes focusing on small-scale industries are floated and conducted to develop and encourage SMEs.
