Winter Project

The last leg of the journey called MBA culminates in a four month long industry interaction at NITIE. It is also the winter project. This is a part of the academic curriculum and its evaluation is added to the final CGPA. The Winter / final project starts almost immediately after the final placements, and continues for four months. In most cases, students carry out their winters in the organizations where they have been placed but it can also be in any other organisation.

What does it imply for students?

For a freshly minted manager, the winters are a chance for a "dress rehearsal" for the exciting journey ahead. They get to experience live projects in real world constraints, over the extended period of 4 months. They are exposed to the expectations that the industry has of them. In short, it is a great learning experience before the final plunge into the corporate boardrooms as well as an opportunity to showcase one's capabilities.A tacit advantage of this opportunity is the understanding of organisational culture and people practices before formally being inducted as an employee.

What does it mean for organisations?

An organization may offer a winter project to the management graduates of NITIE whom it has recruited during the Campus Recruitment Program. This allows the organization to initiate the induction program for the candidates much early than other similar recruits. They are also able to gauge the strength of the students through cross-functional exposure during the winters.Which ultimately helps to decide the best fit set of responsibilities for the candidate.
