Chief Guest: Dr. Tessy Thomas

Director General, Aeronautical Systems, DRDO


Dr. Tessy Thomas is an Indian scientist and Director General of Aeronautical Systems and the former Project Director for Agni-IV missile in Defence Research and Development Organisation. She is the first woman scientist to head a missile project in India. She is known as the 'Missile Woman' of India. Tessy was associate project director of the 3,000 km range Agni-III missile project. She was the project director for mission Agni IV which was successfully tested in 2011. Tessy was appointed as the Project Director for 5,000 km range Agni-V in 2009. The missile was successfully tested on 19 April 2012. She was appointed as Director-General, Aeronautical Systems of DRDO in 2018. She is the recipient the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for her contribution for making India self-reliant in the field of missile technology.

Guest of Honour: Prof. Rishikesha Krishnan

Strategy, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore


Prof. Rishikesha Krishnan is professor of strategy at IIM Bangalore. He served as Director of IIM Indore from 2014-2018. He has keen interest in area of strategy and innovation in the context of emerging markets, with a special focus on India. Professor Krishnan has more than 140 publications spanning outlets that include refereed journals, the popular press, case studies, book chapters, and books like From Jugaad to Systematic Innovation: The Challenge for India, published in February 2010, and 8 Steps to Innovation: Going from Jugaad to Excellence . The latter won the Best Book Award 2013-14 from the Indian Society for Training and Development. He has served on number of committees set up by the Government of India, Nasscom, and CII related to innovation in India. He held the Jamuna Raghavan Chair in Entrepreneurship at IIMB from 2007-10. In November 2010, he received the Dewang Mehta Award for Best Teacher in Strategic Management.

Prof. Tarek M. Khalil

Dr. Tarek M. Khalil is the founding President, Provost and Dean of the graduate school of Management Of Technology (MOT) of Nile University (NU), Egypt. He previously served as Professor of Industrial Engineering and Director of the Management of Technology program at the University of Miami.
Dr. Khalil is the Founder and served as President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Association for Management of Technology for several terms. He is also the co-founder of the University of Miami Institute for the Study of Quality in Manufacturing and Service in the School of Business Administration. He has designed and developed various educational programs at the graduate and undergraduate levels and offered graduate education and training programs at IBM, McDonnell Douglas, Rockwell International, AT&T, Unisys, United Space Alliance, Boeing, Pratt and Whitney, and General Electric, as well as for a number of academic institutions around the world.
He is the recipient of many national and international awards including the prestigious award for Technical Innovation in Industrial Engineering; Doctor Honoris Causa from the Grenoble School of Management, France; the University of Miami College of Engineering Researcher of the Year Award; and the IIE David F. Baker Outstanding Research Award.

Dr. Osman Ahmed

Principal Technical Advisor, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory

Title of talk : Innovation- Learning from Nature

Dr. Osman Ahmed, a visionary innovation leader, joined Pacific Northwest National Laboratory ( a research laboratory managed by US Department of Energy) as a Principal Technical Advisor in 2017. Currently, He is driving and implementing groundbreaking Digital Innovation strategy in energy and environment sectors across many verticals. Prior to his current position, he served for 28 years at Siemens where he discovered affordable Internet of Things for applications in buildings. Siemens recognized him as one of the most inventive minds in the company in a published book. His discovery was widely publicized in the media including Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, MIT technology review. His discovery of IOT was selected as the “2004 Innovation of the Year” by Industrial Automation Magazine. 2004, he received lifetime achievement award "Siemens Inventor of the Year" for his discovery. Dr. Ahmed is a prolific inventor and has more than 100 inventions considering USA and foreign, granted and pending, patents, covering a wide-spectrum of domains including IOT and machine leaning. He has given keynote speeches around the world on the topics of Smart Sustainable city and infrastructure and IOT ecosystem. In 2016, he was invited by the USA Department of Energy to share his expertise and contribute on innovative building and its energy system technologies that will define “Building Industry” 100 years from now.

Dr. Anuja Agarwal

Associate Dean - Technology Management, Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management & Engineering, NMIMS University

Dr. Anuja Agarwal, is the Associate Dean – Technology Management, at Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management & Engineering, NMIMS University. She is also the Mentor at NMIMS Atal Incubation Centre (established under the aegis of Niti Aayog) and has mentored several startups and helped them file patents for their creations. She is the President of the Institution Innovation Council of SVKM’s NMIMS, established as per norms of Innovation Cell, Ministry of HRD. She is a Delhi University Graduate in Computer Science, Masters in Computer Application and Ph.D. in Management Studies from Mumbai University. Her Research area is Design thinking and Innovation in Management Education. Besides Research papers in International and national Journals in the area of Innovation Management, she has co-authored “The handbook in Design Management” through an International Publisher. Her current areas of Research include Technology Management, Feasibility of Blockchain in Indian Businesses and Human behavioral aspects for Cyber Security. She has been a Speaker at the Smart City Conference in Barcelona, Spain in 2015 and the winner in the category “Innovative Smart Solution - Knowledge & Intellectual” at the BW BusinessWorld Smart cities conclave in 2017 & Order of Merit award for best Academic Program on Smart Cities in 2016. She has also won the Kyoto Design Lab Innovation Prize at Sheffield Hallam University, England.
