Reduction of plastic waste is a critical global issue and ensuring a circular economy for plastic waste is need of the hour. This was the theme for HUL CNBC L.I.M.E. Season XI Grand Finale. The case was about understanding the challenges of plastic waste disposal and creating a mass media campaign for increasing the public awareness about the same. The Institute team, christened as the Umbrella Corporation, with Subhrajyoti Bhattacharya, Srinath Kakarala and Subhrajit Mukherjee represented the institute and won the National Level of the case challenge. It is the hard work and dedication of the students that has bore results as they were among 22 teams which were shortlisted from premium B-schools across the country for the semi-final round. Their solution was based on thorough primary and secondary research, identifying gaps in present system and showcasing the journey of plastic beyond the bin.

On 25 February 2020, the winning India champions had the honour and opportunity to interact with Hon'ble Director of NITIE, Professor Manoj K Tiwari and took him through their journey of HUL CNBC L.I.M.E. season XI Grand Finale's moment of winning the coveted National Finals.  Hon'ble Director of NITIE, Professor Manoj K Tiwari gave his best wishes and encouraged the National Finalists from NITIE to give their best for the upcoming global round at Unilever Future Leaders League 2020, to be scheduled at London, United Kingdom, around April/May 2020.

The students conveyed their heartfelt thanks to  Hon'ble Director of NITIE, Professor Manoj K Tiwari  for his time and encouragement. The Director congratulated the winning team and expressed his delight and gratitude for Professor Ashok Pundir, Professor L Ganapathy  and Faculty Advisor Dr Ranjan Chaudhuri for their constant support and guidance throughout the journey toward being the Best Team and Institute in India.
